Soil Story
Soil Story is a 16mm film, combining found foliage and an experimental approach to the film developing process that is in collaboration with the environment. The film explores the juxtaposing histories and memories of the Ridgewood Reservoir and the Cemetery Belt. Two locations that straddle each other with the Jackie Robinson Parkway cut in between.
With both locations in conversation with each other, we explore the cycles of time, space, memory and land development and disposal.

Seeing Things, Dreaming Things

Filmed on 16mm film and Hi-8 Tape. Created by Olivia Acuña, Editing by Phillip Thompson.
Altar Piece
The Holy Mary amidst ongoing traffic. A basement of deities with the light on 24/7. A collection of trash, or so it seems.
“Altar Piece” explores Ridgewood, Queens, through the altars and shrines that ornament the neighborhood. While some are more recognizable in form than others, these objects are brought together with a considered touch.
Directed by Kiana Fernandez. Cinematography by Olivia Acuña.
I Dream In Color
When an archetypal 1950’s woman is unsettled by her existence as a housewife, she escapes into a fantasy realm of art and freedom; in spite of her apathetic husband.
A narrative short directed by Madison DeCory. Cinematographer — Olivia Acuña.
In Love, In Time
In Love, In Time, follows a narrative of a woman who is in two different relationships during two periods of her life, but the emotions that the relationships produce are the same. The film is meant to explore the idea of relationship dependency amongst youth, and one’s identity solely being tied to another.
Directed by Philip Thompson. Cinematography by Olivia Acuna. 16mm.
